We are delighted to offer delegates technical visits to PNDC Centre, HVDC Centre and Whitelee Windfarm on Friday 17 November.
Schedule of technical visits:
Morning - PNDC Centre
Morning - HVDC Centre
Afternoon - Whitelee Windfarm
At PNDC (formerly the Power Networks Demonstration Centre), with a presentation and facility tour.
Delegates will be able to explore the PNDC's integrated test and demonstration environment that simulates real-world power networks, enabling cutting-edge research and development, and gain insights into the collaborative research projects with industry partners, academia, and government agencies, aimed at driving innovation and addressing key challenges facing the energy sector.
At the National HVDC Centre, through four mini-tutorials, the delegates will learn about HVDC system components and behaviours, initial HVDC networks demonstration of 3-ended HVDC systems connecting wind, control, and operation of HVDC hub networks and illustration of small signal screening of HVDC systems interactions.
At Whitelee Windfarm, delegates will be taken on a guided bus tour of the sprawling wind farm, where you can learn about the design, construction, and operation of state-of-the-art wind turbines that generate clean, renewable energy.
Delegates will also be able to learn about the site's history and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
